Here are the answers to many common Questions about QRtifacts

What is a QRtifact?

It is anything with a QRtifact Tag attached that links to a story. Your story might be about the thing, the thing's current or previous owners, where the thing is located, or evoke a memory. It might also serve as a prop for a story.

How do you create a story?

When you first scan the QRtifact Tag with your smartphone, the story page initially appears blank, with a gentle prompt to start writing your story. A user-friendly menu at the bottom of the page contains a link to an online editor. Many smartphones will allow you to dictate your story while automatically transcribing it, making the process seamless and convenient. Optionally, add a photo of the object you plan to attach to it. Password-protect your story so only you or people you trust can edit it.

Who holds the copyright for my story?

You do. By choosing to use this service, you grant us a non-exclusive right to publish your story on our services, make as many copies, and distribute them as necessary to preserve your story.

Where is the story stored?

It is stored on various servers, some of which are virtual servers that don't have a fixed location. The number of these servers is expected to grow over time. The cloud is a term often used to describe its location.

For how long will the story stored?

A really, really long time. We would like to say forever, which is probably a bit longer than we can achieve. Our goal is to store these stories perpetually like a museum or the Library of Congress.

Are stories private?

They are relatively private until you allow someone to scan the tag. The purpose of a QRtifact tag is to share a story. We recommend you protect your story with a password before you share it so only you can edit it. NEVER INCLUDE ANY PERSONAL OR PRIVATE INFORMATION IN YOUR STORY UNLESS YOU HAVE THE LEGAL AND ETHICAL RIGHTS AND DESIRE TO SHARE PUBLICLY. Think of your story as being published for the whole world to see, though only a few friends and family may ever actually see it.
